For the stop motion assignment we were asked to create a project from our own ideas using ideas that were generated from the first assignment. My task was to create an animation based on a theme of my choice. I had to produce appropriate planning, stoyboards and also research with my work. Most of this is produced in this online blog. Also, as a final part of my assignment i had to watch the work of my follow class members and comment, including constructive critism. The other class members commented on my animation and aired points which they thought was good but also bad about my work.
Overall, i think my work could have been better. I could have worked more consistently, taking better care of my work to ensure it was safe and hadnt have got lost. This would have given me more time to make my animation better and make it look more professional. On the other hand, i still managed to get my work produced so it looked like a proper animation. On starting the animation i had originally decided to create a model based animation, with a simple story line i had made up by myself. The animation would originally contain a concert in which a dinosaur would take over. However, after creating my dinosaur models they had gotten lost within the college so i had to start again. Consequently, i had a very short amount of time left so i decided to change my animation idea to cut out. This meant i had to draw the models and then animate them with an appropriate background. I then decided it would be easier to change the theme of my animation to a more popular theme. This would increase peoples understanding of my animation. I changed the story line to an X Factor audition as seen on the popular TV show. Which included a person being interrupted by Spongebob Squarepants, which is also a popular TV show.
The making of my animation went well in my opinion. It was done quickly and easily. I made my animation my moving the images slightly and then taking a picture and so on. The frames would then be put together to make the images look like they were moving. Although the making of my animation went well, i feel it could have looked more professional if i had taken more time drawing the images. After creating the animation i had to include sound. I did this by inserting the X Factor theme tune into Garageband and distorting the sound. This suited my animation as the aimation included a failed auditionee. I then mixed the sound of a scratching disk at the end, finishing the theme tune. After doing so i included appropriate credits and thanks
Overall my fellow class members approved of my animation. Such comments were that it was entertaining, good use of humour, colouful and good use of music and sound effects. Other good comments were that the animation was unique, characters were drawn well and the good use of music to go with the X Factor theme. I think i could have improved on these above comments if i had managed my time better. Some of my fellow students commented that my animation did not make sense and that it could have contained more detail. I have taken this critism on board and agree that if i had taken more time to improve my animation these problems would not be an issue. My class also commented on the techniques i used. Some students commented that my animation included great use of the camera used, well filmed, good editing of the music with the animation and also good use of colour. Some bad comments were that the skills used were very basic and could be improved on alot. Also some students commented that my music did not sound professional and was too distorted. However, most students found that my music went well with my animation so peoples opinion differed on what they like.
Overall my animation could have gone alot better. However, most comments from class members approved of my work and said it was of a good standard. When making another animation i will remember to be more consistent on my time keeping. Making sure i have spent enough time on each aspect of my assignment. Students' bad comments i have taken into account and have used as constructive critism and used it to understand what i need to do to improve my work in the future.

Completed.
Today i completed my stop motion animation and finished it off with sound. I remixed the official x factor song using garageband to make it sound more distorted. I then cut out a scratchy record sound from another song and added it to the factor theme tune. After completing my video i had to make it longer, i then turned the animation into a repetitive animation and had it playing forward, then rewinding back through the video. I then added credits at the end.

Today i produced my stop motion animation. However, the sound is yet to be completed. The sound will be added on next week using garageband. The story in my animation has now changed. I inserted pictures of Cheryl Cole as one of the judges and also inserted X Factor logo's.

As i had lost my models that i had made, i didn't have enough time to make some more to a high standard so i decided to cover another type of animation to meet my deadline. I came to the decision to make a cut out animation. I also decided to change my animation based on the theme of xfactor. Next lesson i will need to draw another storyboard.

4/02/2010 - dinosaur model
This week, i carried on with my models hoping to have them finished by the end of the lesson, ready to produce the ones i was going to use in my actual stop motion video. I created the dinosaur and also produced a storyboard, showing how long each scene would be and what would be in it. This would be finished next lesson and coloured.
